Introduction
Hello!
For today's post, I want to teach you the three-step method that I used to develop my own Personal Style.
While it's sad to see this 3-week series come to an end, I'm incredibly excited for you to read my favorite post of the series.
Week 1, I talked about how Personal Style is the biggest trend of 2025.
Week 2, I talked about how I found my Personal Style using my 3 Step Personal Style Method.
My 3 steps are:
1) Define your Creative Direction
2) Find Intentional Inspiration
3) Experiment, Reflect, & Refine
When implemented correctly, my method will help you:
Discover Yourself - Personal Style gives you a better sense of what you believe in.
Be More Confident - Personal Style allows you to feel like you have something to say.
Shop with Intention - Personal Style helps you save time and money.
Let's start with Creative Direction...

Creative Direction
In Personal Style, Creative Direction is the creative concept that you are working to achieve with the way you present yourself.
I recommend asking yourself: What are the three words you'd want other people to use to describe your sense of style?
For example, my 3 Creative Directions are: Fashionable/Timely, Studious/Scholarly, and Creative/Colorful.
Starting with this gives you a clear direction for what you want to look like, making it easier to find inspiration.

Intentional Inspiration
Now that you have your Creative Direction, we can focus on finding Intentional Inspiration.
You can find inspiration in everything, but what's important is to find intentional inspiration.
Seek out sources of inspiration that align with your creative direction so that each time you take inspiration, you're one step closer to achieving your desired style.
To start, I recommend choosing three inspirations from the following categories:
Respectable Figure in Your Life
Favorite Fictional Characters
Celebrity/Famous Person
Drawing inspiration from multiple categories makes this process more engaging, helping you connect the dots between people you might not have otherwise.
By the way, taking inspiration doesn't make you unoriginal—in fact, it’s quite the opposite
The unique blend of who you want to be and what you admire is what makes you, you.
Take me for example.
I pull inspiration from Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother, Jacob Hill from Abbott Elementary, and Caroline Vazzana.
The unique combination of a heartfelt protagonist, nerdy teacher, and fashion-forward influencer pair together to create my sense of style of being trendy but nerdy and colorful but formal.
But where should you find your inspiration?

Embrace Experimentation
Now that you have a general idea of who it is you want to be, you can begin experimenting to eventually build a personal style.
As you embrace a new way of presenting yourself, it’s normal to feel afraid of how others might react.
Trying something new may be scary at first, but you should feel the fear and do it anyway.
When I started this blog, for example, I remember being scared that people were going to think it was stupid.
But, to my surprise, it was received well!
I still get nervous before emailing my subscribers, but I've learned that fear is just an emotion trying to keep us safe—not an all-or-nothing guide to how we should act.
I can't say that finding your Personal Style is easy, but I can say it's worth it.
Conclusion
I'm excited to see how you all use it to develop/refine your Personal Style.
Finding my sense of style has changed my life by helping me...
Figure out myself - By experimenting with different styles and values I found what's most important to me.
Find pride in who I am - Personal Style helped me accept who I am and feel more comfortable in my skin.
Have the courage to help others - Personal Style helped me feel confident being seen by others which allowed me to start this blog and my social media journey.
