Introduction

My personal life is crazy at the moment*, and I need a break from the Fashion world before I recap New York Fashion Week, so I wanted to try something different for today's post.

I started this blog over two months ago, but most of you are only familiar with my most recent posts.

Likewise, I thought it'd be a great idea to shine some light on my work.

So here are my three favorite posts and why I love them!

1: Thank You Ann Taylor

My favorite thing about "Thank You Ann Taylor" is the introduction that I wrote...

"Imagine this...

It's another day at the office and the spreadsheets aren't spreadsheet-ing.

It's not even noon and the computers are crashing, the systems aren't loading, and nothing seems to be working.

Despite this, I managed to have a good day.

How, do you ask?

I wish I could tell you that it was my unfailing emotional intelligence and fountain of wisdom but, to my surprise, it was this vest dress from Ann Taylor that made my day."

I want the visual element of my blog to exist in my writing not just the pictures.

I love it when writers aren't afraid to share their personality and what fashion means to them and I love this post for that.

2: The Most Valuable Thing for Fashion Brands

"The Most Valuable Thing for Fashion Brands" is a favorite of mine because it combines all of my fashion experience: 3 years in the University of Kentucky Wildcat Wardrobe, 2 internships, and 1 Bachelor of Science in Merchandising Apparel & Textiles, to make a unique argument about the industry.

I'm always frustrated when people don't understand the point of luxury fashion.

Even if you don't wear luxury fashion you're still influenced by it, so I'd argue it's still important to understand.

Likewise, I wanted to write an article that defended avante-garde fashion by showing an example from my favorite avante-garde fashion house: Viktor & Rolf.

I believe that fashion is supposed to be entertainment and that the most valuable currency in fashion and in life is one's attention.

Here's my favorite quote from "The Most Valuable Thing for Fashion Brands"...

"Luxury brands aren't selling something that people need, they're selling something that people want: to be associated with popular things. And when more people are looking at a brand, especially a brand that many can't afford, its perceived value increases.

Thus, I argue that the most valuable thing for a Fashion Brand is their target customer's attention.

With so many brands marketing to one customer it can be easy to get lost in the noise, but by obtaining and maintaining people's attention a brand can stay on the radars of those who are ready to buy."

This post isn't my absolute favorite, but it's definitely my best.

3: Is GAP Cool Now??? [Troye Sivan x GAP Review]

This is possibly my favorite post because of how much passion I have for it.

I've loved Troye Sivan since middle school and to see the once niche pop star on a stage this big is insane.

I think I summed it up well in this quote...

"Now, I usually stand on the side of sticking to your plan, BUT when a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration happens I have no choice but to stop what I'm doing and write about it."

I want JoshuaMillerClothing.com to be a place that's humourous, insightful, and entertaining and I tried to make this post just that.

Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed a post out of the ordinary because I've enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane.

Thanks for a great two months and here's to the posts to come in 2024!

P.S. - I find it strange that when I started this blog I was scared for anyone to see it. Now I feel the opposite. I can't believe I ever kept it hidden!
